Why I Disconnect From LinkedIn™ Connections Every Day
Every day, I remove 3 to 8 connections. It’s the best way to slow down network growth. Sounds counterintuitive? Maybe. But building a network is easy—keeping it relevant is the real challenge.
The LinkedIn™ Connection Limit Is Real
I plan to stay on LinkedIn™, but I’m already at 33% of my 30,000-connection limit. That means every connection has to earn its place. If they don’t, they’re out.
Why Do I Disconnect?
- No idea why we connected: if I don’t remember, it’s probably not valuable.
- Ghosted my message: sent a note, got radio silence.
- Extreme political posts: LinkedIn™ is for business, not battlefields.
- Instant sales pitches: connected, then hit me with automation. Nope.
- Endorsed things I consider crimes: revolving doors, clowns, or bird kebab. (Sworn enemies.)
Oh, and if someone uses AI to leave fake comments on my posts? I don’t just remove them—I disconnect and block.
The Myth of “The Disconnected”
Here’s something funny: When you remove someone, they still follow you. Like a silent, harmless zombie herd.
You’d think they’d unfollow out of spite, but nope. They don’t even notice. The hard truth? We’re not as important as we think.
So, I’ll keep disconnecting like a pro. And my network will stay stronger because of it.
