Just imagine a stranger approaching you and handing you their business card without any introduction.

Yes, that’s exactly the equivalent of a connection request “from unkown” with no message. The quota used to be one message per ten requests, but now it’s going to drop even further, as LinkedIn limits the quota for free user to 5 200-character connection messages per month.
